Rich has a long history in radio. Beginning in the 1980s with his high school show on MRCR (Mount Royal Collegiate Radio), he broke the mold and long restrictions against playing heavy metal on the air. Fast forward to the mid-1990s with the weekly CFCR 90.5FM show in Saskatoon, focusing on local music. He created his own internet radio station (originally Radio306.com (Nominated for a Prairie Music award) to Pure Rock Radio), at a time when it was much more difficult and super rare to have an internet station, many years before terrestrial AM/FM and satellite stations put their radio feeds online. Long before iPhones and smartphones.
Rich was a board member of S.O.M.A. (Saskatchewan Original Music Assoc.) and broadcast coordinator, which is where his love for supporting independent, local, and struggling bands took hold. The roots of Pure Rock Radio celebrate indie bands, mixed with better-known, major-label artists. His current radio show Rich Embury’s R3TROGRAD3 continues the tradition.

Pariah Burke grew up banging his impressive head of hair to 80s and 90s hard rock, heavy metal, and hair band albums he played all the way through while wondering why even the coolest FM stations only ever played the singles. Living and playing in bands in Daytona Beach back when Bike Week was still awesome, Pariah developed a taste for Harleys and whiskey, and began DJing Bike Week events and mud wrestling. Later, somehow still in possession of his full hearing, Pariah embraced the ability of Internet radio to reach hard rock, heavy metal, and hair band fans all over the world. He started the Hard, Heavy & Hair with Pariah Burke syndicated radio show to bring to all those fans the biggest hits but even more so the non-single album tracks, the “deep cuts,” that make albums great but never get air play during regular radio rotation.
